Richard Berberian, Esq., Managing Attorney

Richard Berberian, Esq

Attorney

Richard Berberian is one of the founders of The Berberian Firm and a highly experienced personal injury and elder abuse lawyer in Glendale. His legal career began in 2004 when he obtained his Juris Doctor from Southwestern University School of Law. Before that, he obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree from California State University, Northridge where he majored in Sociology, Criminology, and Corrections.

Mr. Berberian spent his early years in law defending insurance companies and self-insured entities who were facing lawsuits. This experience gave him firsthand insight into how these entities deny or mitigate injury claims. In 2010, he shifted gears and began private practice. Now free to pursue cases of his choosing, Mr. Berberian used his experience defending insurance companies to help people filing personal injury claims obtain the compensation they are owed.

Types of Nursing Home Cases

Bed sores

Bedsores can develop on hips, feet, joints and back- wherever bones press against fragile skin without being moved by a nursing home attendant. If left untreated, bedsores can cause infection, hospitalization, and even death.

Dehydration or Malnutrition

Nursing homes must make sure that their residents have proper nutrition and hydration to prevent malnutrition. When residents aren’t getting proper nutrition and hydration, they are at higher risk for bedsores, infections and death.

Falls

The two most common causes of falls are related to medications and malnutrition. Most falls can be prevented by nursing home staff and are the result of neglect or abuse.

Fractured bones

Falls are the most common cause of bone fractures in nursing home residents. To prevent falls among residents, staff members must carefully transfer and check in on residents.

Physical Abuse

The reality is that there are other ways nursing home staff can use intentional, inappropriate force on a resident. This may include: Pushing and shoving. Inappropriate use of restraints. Unnecessary confinement

Wrongful Death

If your loved one dies suddenly or suspiciously, a nursing facility may be to blame for neglect. The elderly who suffer abuse at the hands of their caretakers have a 300% higher risk of death.
